What does BAMS mean?

BAMS is the abbreviation for Bachelors of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery. It is an undergraduate degree course for students looking to build a career in the medical industry. The course digs deep into the principles of Ayurveda and treatment through Ayurveda. It combines the ancient science of medicine with modern ideas of treatment.

Thus, students receive knowledge of both Ayurveda and modern medicine. The course has a duration of 5.5 years and the Central Council of Indian Medicine is responsible for admission to the BAMS course at the undergraduate level and at the postgraduate level as well.

Course Structure for BAMS

The program is partitioned into three courses known as professional courses. The first course consists of physiology, anatomy, and the history of Ayurveda. The second course consists of biology and pharmacology while the third and final course consists of gynecology, obstetrics, surgery, ENT and skin. All these courses have a duration of 1.5 years.

For admissions, the aspirant needs to clear the NEET examination which is a national-level entrance examination for medical courses.
