What does CISF mean?

CISF is the abbreviation for Central Industrial Security Force. It is one of the five Central Armed Public Forces of India established under the Central Industrial Security Force Act 1968. It comes under the governance of the Ministry of Home Affairs and is the dedicated unit for providing skilled security services. The primary task of CISF is to provide infrastructure protection services.

The force was established in 1969 to provide security and intelligence services to the Public Sector Undertakings and Government offices. With time, the force has expanded its work regions to several other domains such as airports, stations, heritage monuments, private companies, and other places of importance.

The force now protects 300 major units all over the country. CISF also provides consulting practices for security and fire protection consulting.

Structure of CISF

The force is composed of nine different sectors: North, North-east, East, West, South, South-east, Central, Training and Airport.
