What does CTH mean?

CTH is the short form for Chikalthan. It is a village in the Kannad Taluka in the Solapur District of the state of Maharashtra in India. It comes under the Paschim Maharashtra region or the western region of Maharashtra and arrives under the Pune division.

The village is situated nearly 130 kilometres apart from the district headquarters in Solapur in the northern direction. The villages are under the Kannad Assembly constituency and Mr Uday Singh Sardarsing Rajput is the elected member of the Legislative Assembly from the region.

History of CTH

The region of Chikalthan belonged to a native advocate and social worker of the Kannad Taluka. The village is a historical region since it has an association with greats such as Bajirao Peshwa and Nizam of Hyderabad to name a few of them.

It was under the Peshwa kingdom and then was taken over by the Britishers although it was in close proximity to the region of Nizam of Hyderabad. Britishers were keen to keep control of the region since it was a region of prominence for its rich and fertile soil, assured rainfall patterns and irrigation which made the region a prosperous one.
