DCMA is headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia.

The DCMA was created on October 1, 1998, as a result of the Defense Reform Act of 1997. It consolidated the contract management functions of the Navy, the Air Force, and the Army. DCMA has more than 10,500 employees and a budget of more than $1.5 billion.
