What does DDiS mean?

DDIS is the short form for the Direct Diesel Injection System. It is a fuel injection system that dates back several decades. The Direct injection engines inject the fuel directly into the combustion chamber above the piston.

The air is compressed in these chambers which raises the temperatures to extremely high limits i.e. above 400 degrees Celsius. These high temperatures ignite the fuel i.e. diesel and it catches fire. Solely, for this reason, it is also called a compression ignition system.

Direct Diesel Injection systems, on one hand, can be really advantageous since they support a longer engine life, have comparatively lower maintenance and are quite sturdy in nature. On the other hand, they have some drawbacks such as heavy components, sluggish operations, lower engine speeds and high noise and vibrations levels.
