ICAI stands for Institute Of Chartered Accountants of India. ICAI is the largest professional accounting organization in India. The Government of India owns ICAI under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. ICAI was established under Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 as a statutory body, and ICAI is authorized to make regulations in the Chartered Accountancy profession of India.

Presently there are 3,30,000 members of ICAI. To have membership in ICAI, the eligible candidates must pass an ICAI membership examination and have three years of training experience in their respective fields.
