The acronym MEMS stands for Micro-Electro-Mechanical System, a futuristic technology that creates integrated devices by combining electrical and mechanical components. MEMS is also used to manufacture automated switches of two different types i.e. capacitive and ohmic. The capacitive switch is a moving plate with variable capacitance while the latter one is controlled by linear electrostatic cantilevers.
