History of Special Security Force

However, the first physical protection was provided to the former president of Bangladesh Hussain Muhammad Ershad. It was formed in 1986 in the name of the Presidential Security Force (PSF). Later, the government agency force was renamed the Special Security Force (SSF).

Due to the introduction of a parliamentary system in Bangladesh, the name of the force was changed. So, this is how the special security force works in Bangladesh. Previously, the special security force was involved in providing physical security. However, this may vary from president to other VIP officials. This was implied to bring restoration in the parliamentary system. So, it had a constant connection with intelligence and civil administration.

Organization of Special Security Force

The special security force is located and based in Tejgaon, Dhaka, at the prime minister’s office. It completely operated under an independent training complex. Also, accommodations for the trained officers are also provided near the headquarters.

The team is managed, regulated, and commanded by a director-general. However, the director-general holds the same power as the major general or brigadier general. Moreover, the special security force team is divided into five major departments:
